OOP#3 Hackfest

We are thrilled to announce the OOP#3-Hackfest, which will take place in Athens, GR on 24 July 2026 from 10:00 to 18:00 GMT+02:00.
Overview
Organized with the support of the 6G-DALI project, the OOP#3 Hackfest, colocated with the OOP#3 Plenary Meeting (open and free to all!) taking place the previous day, on 23 July 2026, will bring together developers, researchers, and industry practitioners for a hands-on, collaborative one-day event focused on experimenting with the newly introduced Data Lab module and its integration within the broader OpenOP platform. This event, free and open to all, will be held on 24 July 2026 from 10:00 to 18:00.
The Hackfest will provide a practical environment to explore how Data Lab extends OpenOP with DataOps capabilities, enabling data analytics services, AI pipelines, and dataspace-based data sharing across federated environments. Participants will have the opportunity to work directly with the platform, contributing to the integration of Data Lab into the OpenOP stack, improving usability, and enhancing interoperability with existing modules.
Activities will span from the development of practical, functionality-enabling features aimed at strengthening the adoption and usability of Data Lab, to more advanced Proof-of-Concept (PoC) implementations, including topics such as DataOps workflows, AI-driven data processing, and intent-based data management (e.g., AI-assisted data cleaning and preparation).
By contributing to OpenOP during the Hackfest, either through a corporate affiliation or as an individual, participants will not only experiment with cutting-edge technologies but also help build reusable components and capabilities that can have a lasting impact on the future of data-driven, AI-enabled Telco-Cloud platforms.
The meeting will be held in English.

Programme
Experimenting with Data Lab โ Dataspace and DataOps Services is an intensive hackfest/workshop focuses on OpenOPโs evolution into a platform for data and AI-driven service ecosystems, enabling trusted sharing of datasets, analytics, and AI models across federated environments. Participants will deploy Data Lab locally, experiment with its capabilities, and contribute new features or datasets.
Objectives
Gain practical experience in installing/running Data Lab, discovering/consuming datasets, registering datasets (via web portal or programmatically), understanding dataspace-enabled asset exchange, and experimenting with DataOps workflows (pull, process, publish).
Tracks
- Presentation & Discovery (1h 30m): Learn Data Lab architecture, dataspace protocol, metadata profiles, and catalog UI. Deploy locally, explore the catalog, and pull datasets.
- Data Space Operations (1h 30m): Register datasets via UI or scripts, exchange data with others, and configure quality checks.
- Data Operations (1h 30m): Design and execute data pipelines (pull โ process โ publish), track lineage, and build custom pipelines.
- Contributing to the Platform (1h): Contribute datasets, connector extensions, DataOps services, or AI-driven capabilities.
Prerequisites
You should have installed and be confortable with Docker, Docker Compose, Python 3.9+, and a terminal.
